A unique piece of New Zealand's heritage, intricately captured on a fused and slumped glass canvas. This design celebrates the harmonious relationship between the melodious Tui and the radiant Kōwhai tree, both treasured symbols of Aotearoa's rich natural tapestry.
Often heard before they are seen, the Tui's distinctive calls resonate like a musical melody through our forests and gardens. This bird, adorned with its proud chest feathers and echoing boisterous calls, holds a cherished place in the hearts of all New Zealanders. In a harmonious dance of nature, the radiant yellow blooms of the Kōwhai tree serve as a beacon, enticing the Tui closer and beautifully illustrating nature's intricate ballet.
Our glassware bears witness to this beautiful relationship and the meticulous craftsmanship poured into each creation. Beginning with a hand-cut 5mm glass base, our artisans screen print the evocative Tui and Kōwhai design. Vibrant blue streaks, symbolizing New Zealand's pristine skies, are crafted from colored glass, adding depth and contrast. This piece undergoes firing in an electric kiln, where the glass fuses together and is gently slumped into molds, achieving a delicate concave form that captures light in mesmerizing ways.
Complementing this is a stand, designed to evoke the curves of the graceful Ponga Koru, ensuring that your piece is displayed in the grandeur it deserves. We laser-cut the stand in house from New Zealand made board.
